Alaska College Republicans to Host Renowned Political Figure at Fall Convention
Anchorage, AK. – October 24, 2011 – The Alaska College Republicans have announced that high-profile national figure Karl Rove will be the keynote speaker for their 2011 Fall Convention.
Rove, an author, Fox News contributor, Wall Street Journal columnist, and former Deputy Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor to President George W. Bush, will deliver the keynote address at the group’s October 29 convention being billed as the “kick-off” event of the 2011 CR year.
The convention’s main event and a dinner preceding it will be held at the Dena’ina Civic Convention Center. Doors will open and 6 p.m., and the event will start at 6:30 p.m. A meet-and-greet with Rove will be held for select ticket-holders before the dinner.
College Republicans from around the state are planning to attend, as are representatives from the newly-formed Teenage Republicans. “The state convention is a great time for students all over Alaska to come together and meet other like-minded conservatives," UAA College Republicans President Ryan McKee said. "We look forward to Karl Rove's appearance to support our cause and join Alaskans together.”
Tickets are limited in quantity and range in price from $90 for just the convention to $150 for both the
convention and dinner.
The Convention is open to the press. Filming of Mr. Rove’s address is allowed only for the first 5 minutes, after which all cameras must be turned off.
The Alaska College Republicans formed two years ago and exists to inform the university and its surrounding communities on the core conservative principles of the Republican Party. They also work to train the future leaders of the Republican Party and elect current leaders. By being a member of the Alaska College Republicans, students gain an ideology of the conservative way, become active conservative voices in the Alaskan community and build a solid network of political allies.
